Rachel Mars joins the Brock School of Business as an Academic Advisor in the office of Academic Programs for all minors in the business school in addition to advising freshmen students. She also serves as the official representation for the school of business at student recruitment events. Before joining the Brock School of Business, Mars served in various roles in Housing & Residence Life and Student Life. Most recently, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2014-2015) and before that, at the University of South Alabama (2012-2014). In both roles, Rachel coordinated a community setting, developed students of all classifications in their journey through the university as well as performing crisis response duties for an on campus population of over 2,000 students. In her time at the University of South Alabama, she was recognized as the Most Outstanding Graduate Student in her graduate program of Educational Leadership, which was one of Mars’ specific goals while in graduate school at USA.
Mars is a member of Church of the Highlands and is currently pursuing a ministry certificate in the Small Groups directed study from Highlands College. She volunteers with The Well House, a local anti-human trafficking organization and also participates in the Arc Stories organization that creates events for local individuals to tell personal stories to large audiences as a form of modern-day parables and has told one personal story. Mars is passionate about the Revive Birmingham movement and actively participates in the REV Birmingham events.
