Jacqueline Austin was awarded the 2021 Maud McClure Kelly Award from the Women’s Section of the Alabama State Bar.

1969

Roy Gonas taught a 10-week lecture series on International Commercial Arbitration in spring 2021 to law students at the Faculty of International Relations, University of Lviv, in Ukraine.

1974

Judge J. Randall May retired from the bench, after serving as one of 10 administrative law judges for the state of North Carolina for the last 13 years.

Judge Julian Mann III retired from the bench after serving his 8th term as chief administrative law judge for the North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings. He held the role of chief judge for 32 years. As well, he was recognized with a Friend of the Court award from Chief Judge Paul Newby of the Supreme Court of North Carolina.

1976

Dick and Linda Knight, both members of the class of 1976, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. When they arrived on campus in 1973, they were the only married couple in their class. He is a retired health care lawyer, and she is a senior partner of the Nashville firm Gullett Sanford Robinson & Martin.

1977

Charlie Peppler became the city attorney for Pensacola, Florida.

Judge Bob Bailey was named a 2020 Fellow of the Alabama Law Foundation.

1979

Judge Arthur L. Smith III of the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Columbus, Georgia, became president-elect of the Council of Superior Court Judges on May 1, 2021.
