Technology Services at Samford University provides technologies to support students, faculty and staff. Services include classroom technology, wireless, administrative systems, email and support. The service desk is located in the University Library on the lower floor room 012.

Technology Groups

Office of the Chief Information Officer

The office of the Chief Information Officer oversees all technology-related services provided by the Technology Services department. The CIO is responsible for creation and maintenance of a strategic technology plan and ensuring the department is aligned with the overall university strategic plan. The CIO is also responsible for managing various Technology Services and campus-wide projects to enhance the mission of the University, and for the implementation of ITIL best practices.

Enterprise Applications Group

The Enterprise Applications Group is responsible for the development and maintenance of all administrative applications, oversees all Ellucian Banner ERP related functions and integrations, project management, and application development.

Enterprise Systems Group

The Enterprise Systems Group includes all technology infrastructure related services including networking, server administration, and data center operations, ensuring the reliability of the Samford network and servers.

Enterprise Technology Support Group

The Enterprise Technology Support Group includes the Service Desk, computer leasing and deployment, classroom technology, labs, and second level support. The deployment group ensures timely replacement of all computers as part of the replacement cycle. The Service Desk provides support to approved Samford computers and software, as well as support for our students. Classroom technology supports and maintains projectors and hardware interfaces in the classrooms. Second level support provides additional support when an issue cannot be resolved over the phone or by remoting into a computer.

Information Security

The Information Security Group oversees all technology security and compliance related matters, and technology-related policy development. The Chief Information Security Officer works with other areas within Technology Services to build a secure computing environment for students, faculty, and staff.
