After a 32-year business career, including seven years as a member of the Samford Board of Trustees, Pittman joined the Samford administration as vice president for university advancement in April 2008. In this role, he has responsibility for development, fundraising and alumni relations. Prior to joining Samford, Pittman began his career with Ernst & Young before serving as senior vice president of Caremark, executive vice president at AmSouth Bank, and then as chief financial officer in three companies, including Emageon Inc., BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Scandipharm. Pittman received his B.S. from Auburn University and completed graduate course work at Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware, and in the Executive Education Program of Goizueta School of Business at Emory University. He serves as a member of the boards of directors of the Salvation Army, the Alabama Policy Institute, Not Forgotten and the Alabama Governor’s School, and is an actively engaged member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church and the Rotary Club of Birmingham.
