Jessica was hired as the Executive Director of Marketing and Communication in February of 2021. With nearly 20 years of experience in communications and marketing across multiple sectors, Jessica brings deep experience in brand strategy, media relations, crisis communications, content development, digital and paid media and event management.
She comes to Samford after serving as a Senior Director at Markstein, a Birmingham-based integrated communications agency, where she managed the strategic communications and marketing efforts for a roster of clients that included The World Games 2022, Rheumatology Research Foundation, BBVA Iron City Showdown, Red Mountain Park, Alabama Power and more. Prior to her time at Markstein, Jessica spent eight years at Peach Bowl, Inc., in Atlanta, Ga., where she served as Director of Communications and Integrated Marketing, managing media relations, media operations, digital media, print production and execution of the overall media, marketing and brand strategies for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament and The Dodd Trophy.
Jessica also brings experience in the higher education sector, having served as the Assistant Director of Communications & Marketing at her alma mater, James Madison University, where she managed the overall communications and marketing strategy for the JMU Alumni Association. Her resume also includes two years as the PR Specialist for the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, where she was responsible for promoting Atlanta as a business and leisure tourism destination through local, national and international media coverage.
A native of Richmond, Va., and 2004 graduate of James Madison University, Jessica is married to Josh – a Samford alumnus.
