Hometown: Shelby, North CarolinaIn high school, David was a member of the National Honors Society, the French and Science National Honors Societies, and the Beta Club. He graduated as an AP Scholar with Honor and in the top five percent of his high school class. David is already an accomplished pianist, having achieved the “Superior” distinction in multiple North Carolina Music Teachers Association state-level piano contests. At Samford, David has placed in the Fletcher and Nell Morris Piano Competition for two consecutive years. He was also a winner of the Concerto-Aria competition in the fall, allowing him to perform a piano concerto with the Samford Orchestra in March. In addition to his piano studies, David also has made the Dean's List multiple semesters in a row, and he serves on the leadership team for TEDxSamfordU. David usually spends his summers accompanying for churches and teaching piano and swim lessons in Shelby, NC. However, this summer, David is conducting research as an Alabama Power Research Fellow in Birmingham. In the future, David hopes to become a musicologist and a professor.
