Hometown: Jonesboro, ArkansasBecause of her desire to pursue a career in foreign policy, Kathryn has spent most of her time at Samford pursuing opportunities to equip her for this field. In the spring of 2016, she was chosen by the Political Science Department to participate in DC Careers, a selective program that allows a small group of students to spend a week in Washington D.C. learning about careers in public service. As a member of Samford's Model United Nations team, she traveled to Rhodes, Greece in the fall of 2016 to represent Sweden in an international competition. Additionally, Kathryn spent the spring of 2017 studying in the nation’s capital at The Washington Center and interning at the Meridian International Center. This non-governmental organization works closely with the diplomatic corps in D.C. to facilitate diplomacy through short-term exchange programs of students, reporters, professionals, and government officials from around the world. During the summer of 2015, she interned for U.S.Congressman Rick Crawford in his District Office, and in the summer of 2016, she studied French at the Université Grenoble Alpes in Grenoble, France. Kathryn is proud to have experienced academic success while at Samford as well. She is a John Howard Scholar, a member of the honor societies Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Kappa Phi, has received the Ruric E. Wheeler Medal and the Seal Medal for Excellence in Political Science, has served as a research assistant for multiple Samford professors, and has been named to the Dean’s List every semester. Finally, Kathryn enjoys serving as Howard College Ambassador and being a sister of Alpha Delta Pi.
