Hometown: Macon, GeorgiaIn high school, Emily was a National Merit Scholar, valedictorian of her graduating class, and STAR student of Bibb County, Georgia. At Samford, she has gotten involved in a number of areas on campus, investing in prospective and incoming Samford students as the Vice President of the Samford Recruitment Team, a University Fellows Recruitment Council member, and a Connections Leader. She also participates in Reformed University Fellowship as a Ministry Team member and community group co-leader and works as a service cadre liaison at Oak Tree Ministries for the Mann Center of Ethics and Leadership. Emily has received the Omicron Delta Kappa Freshman Leadership Award, the Seal Medal for Academic Excellence, and membership in Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society. Interested in pursuing a career in classical scholarship, Emily spent the summer of 2016 researching classical sculpture and reception theory with Dr. Stephen Todd as an Alabama Power Foundation Research Fellow which yielded a paper that she presented at the Classical Association of the Midwest and South Southern Section meeting in the fall of 2017 and will be published in the Samford Undergraduate Research Journal in the spring. She will be conducting research as an Alabama Power Foundation Research Fellow again this summer. In the fall, Emily is excited to serve as a preceptor for the freshmen University Fellows' Virtues class.
