Fellow Employees,

The university continues to implement a gradual return to on-campus operations.  This approach allows us to minimize the occurrence and transmission of COVID-19 on Samford’s campus.

Tremendous work is currently underway to “Bring Back the Bulldogs” for the fall semester.  We are working diligently to refine sanitization protocols, to develop social distancing and traffic flow plans, to create effective signage and engineering controls, and much more.

As we move into the second phase of the reopening plan, all employees are encouraged to continue to work from home unless they need to perform a critical function on campus and/or need to be on campus to prepare for the fall semester.  In order to return to campus, employees must complete the COVID-19 training and comply with applicable PPE requirements.  Unless exceptions are approved by a vice president and communicated to Public Safety, access to campus will be granted only two days per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through August 17.

Department heads and deans should continue to work through the appropriate vice presidents to determine which employees need access to campus.  Beginning August 4, all faculty and staff will be allowed to return to campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays to prepare for the fall semester.  Finally, Samford will resume a normal Monday-Friday schedule beginning August 17. Please keep in mind that as local, state and national health standards evolve, these plans are subject to change.  We appreciate your continued flexibility.

On Friday, June 5 you received a survey from Human Resources to determine what protections will be needed for your individual job duties.  It is imperative that you complete this in a timely manner so that we can effectively prepare for your return.

We are eager to “Bring Back the Bulldogs” and appreciate your continued partnership and adaptability as we prepare for on-campus operations.

Best regards,

J. Michael Hardin, Ph.D.
