Joining a fraternity or sorority is a financial commitment. Each chapter varies in financial structure regarding dues, fees, and one time new member expenses. Chapters finance various activities, events, and general daily operations. Chapter expenses most often covers social events such as formals, semi-formals and mixers, philanthropic events, service projects, housing updates, academic support programs, and national dues.  Dues are allocated to the national organization and the local Samford chapter through online payment portals. Members can pay a one-time up front cost or pay on a monthly payment plan. The chapter treasurer will provide every new member with more information at the beginning of the semester.

See our financial transparency document to learn specific details about what it costs for each chapter.

NPHC

Each NPHC organization varies on fees. However, most of the financial commitment is at the forefront of a member’s collegiate experience. A range of dues and fees are as low as $1,000 and as high as $3,000. Chapter dues per semester are up to the discretion of each sorority and fraternity. There is also a per semester Samford Greek fee of $75.

If you choose to become a new member of a fraternity or sorority, you are affiliating with the national organization. If at any time you decide to relinquish your membership, you may still be responsible for completing your financial commitments according to your contract with the national organization.
