Prior to coming to Samford, Carol Koch served as the Director of Hearing and Speech at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Prior to that appointment, she was an associate professor for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Rockhurst University for nine years. Her clinical, teaching, and research interests include: pediatric speech sound acquisition and speech sound disorders, assessment and intervention for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, family and sibling experiences with a child who has special needs, early intervention, trauma-informed care, and clinical education/supervision. She has been honored as an ASHA Fellow and is a Board Certified Specialist in Child Language. Dr. Koch is currently working on the 2nd edition of her textbook, Clinical Management of Speech Sound Disorders:  A Case-Based Approach. She is also a co-author of the Contrast Cues for Speech and Literacy and the “Box of” set of cues for articulation therapy and the Box of /ɹ/ Inventory and Facilitating Contexts through Bjorem Speech Publications. Dr. Koch enjoys traveling, photography, reading, and scuba diving. She is also an active member of her faith community.
