Samford University accounting students Matthew Mitchell and Kathryn Murnane won top honors at the recent regional meeting of Beta Alpha Psi international business honor society.

Mitchell and Murnane were part of a six-member team that won first place in a leadership conference competition. Their winning project involved designing and building a product, staying within a budget, and preparing and presenting a marketing plan.

About 200 students from schools throughout the southeast were in the competition, held in Nashville, Tenn., March 4.

Mitchell is a junior accounting major from Henagar. Murnane is a junior accounting major from Carmel, Ind.

Beta Alpha Psi recognizes outstanding students in accounting, finance and information technology.
