Alabama Baptist State Evangelism Conference To Meet at Samford Feb. 23-24 Samford University will host the annual State Evangelism Conference of the Alabama Baptist Convention State Board of Missions Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 23-24. Some 1,200 Alabama Baptist ministers, church members and others are expected to attend.

The program will feature two days of preaching, music and breakout sessions on how to conduct more effective programs within churches. A total of 13 pastors and other church leaders will address the conference.

"The Evangelism Conference is a time for spiritual encouragement and personal challenge," said Dr. Rick Lance, executive director of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. "It is also an opportune occasion to be equipped in Great Commission ministries."

Dr. Lance said the Great Commission ministries tracks would offer the latest and best training, and that the preaching, "as always," would be of the highest quality.

"The atmosphere for the conference exudes a sense of Christian fellowship and spiritual enrichment," he said.

Lance also thanked Samford President Andrew Westmoreland and the Samford University family for hosting the 2009 conference. Sessions will be held in Wright Center, Hodges Chapel, Brock Recital Hall and other campus locations.

Speakers will include Roy Hill, First Baptist Church, Satsuma, Ala.; Don Cass, evangelism director, Southern Baptist Convention, Grapevine, Texas; Bob Pitman, evangelist, Muscle Shoals, Ala.; Ted Traylor, Olive Baptist Church, Pensacola, Fla.; Robert Smith, professor, Beeson Divinity School, Samford University; Matt Brady, Carolina Baptist Church, Andalusia, Ala.; Emir Caner, president, Truett-McConnell College, Cleveland, Ga.; Charles T. Carter, professor, Beeson Divinity School, Samford University; Scott Harris, Southside, Ala., Baptist Church; David Uth, First Baptist Church, Orlando, Fla.; Robert Jeffress, First Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas; Anne Graham Lotz, Angel Ministries, Raleigh, N.C.; and Johnny Hunt, First Baptist Church, Woodstock, Ga.

Musician Charles Billingsley of Lynchburg, Va., will be worship leader.

Lotz also will address the Ministers' Wives Luncheon Tuesday at noon in Pete Hanna Center. #
