Irish author-philosopher Peter Rollins, an expert on the Emergent Church, will speak at Samford University Thursday, Feb. 19, in Reid Chapel at 10 a.m. The program is open to the public free.

A research associate at Trinity College in Dublin, Rollins teaches philosophy and emerging church theology. He is author of the books How (Not) to Speak to God, The Fidelity of Betrayal and The Orthodox Heretic (forthcoming).

Rollins is a graduate of Queen's University in Belfast, where he earned the bachelor's degree with honors, master's and Ph.D. degrees.

Rollins also will meet with student groups for discussion at 1:30 p.m. in Harry's Place, Beeson University Center at Samford.

His Samford visit is sponsored by Samford's philosophy department and Resource Center for Pastoral Excellence, and the Birmingham Emergent Cohort.
