Throughout the summer, Samford University's Offices of Parent Programs and Admission are teaming to give incoming freshmen and their parents yet another taste of the Samford community. Through Samford send off parties, students and their families get the chance to interact and learn a little more about their upcoming Samford experience.
"The parties are casual, fun and relaxed events," said Kelia Furr, director of parent programs. " The events are purely social, but we also typically make introductions and announcements regarding when to expect roommate assignments, how things will work on Move In Day, the Family Welcome session, Connections and Family Weekend details."
Hosted by current Samford parents or alumni, party locations span 14 cities in nine different states. Furr describes the parties as "a celebration for the students who have chosen Samford."
The parties began July 11 in suburban Indianapolis and continue through the Aug. 8 Birmingham event.
