Samford University will welcome Sylvia Rayfield & Associates and I CAN Publishing Inc. as they host a faculty development session for nurse educators Aug. 7–8.

The two-day conference focuses on elevating and sustaining high National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) pass rates. This is the second time the two companies have hosted the conference at Samford.

To practice as a registered nurse, all nursing students must pass the NCLEX-RN upon completing their undergraduate degree. Sylvia Rayfield, owner of Sylvia Rayfield & Associates, partnered with Ida Moffett School of Nursing to create a continuing education curriculum that would help faculty better prepare students to excel on the NCLEX-RN.

Faculty who attend the program interact with valuable National Council of State Boards of Nursing research. They are challenged and guided to improve their test development skills and teaching strategies.

Nursing faculty from a number of universities in Alabama and other states will gather for the conference. “This year, the conference is being held in Samford’s beautiful new College of Health Sciences building,” Rayfield said. “The trip will be well worth it.”

To register for the event, call Sylvia Rayfield & Associates Inc. at 1-800-234-0575, or go to sylviarayfield.org for more information.

Rayfield is a 1959 graduate of Birmingham Baptist Hospital, and she served as a member of Samford’s nursing advisory board for several years. She and her company have collaborated with Ida Moffett School of Nursing for several years to work to improve the pass rates on NCLEX-RN scores in Alabama and surrounding areas.
