New Testament and Greek scholar Bill Warren will present special lectures Feb. 19-20 at Samford University. Warren is the Landrum P. Leavell II Chair of New Testament and Greek and director of the H. Milton Haggard Center for New Testament Textual Studies at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. 

“We are honored to host Dr. Warren on campus, and I invite you to join us to hear him teach about the ancient manuscripts and the relevance it has for us today,” Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Hardin said.

On Monday, Feb. 19, Warren will speak on "Letting Ancient Manuscripts Speak: Insights, Resources, and Student Opportunities" from 3-4 p.m. in Brock Forum of Dwight Beeson Hall. On Tuesday, Feb. 20, he will give a talk on "Bringing Ancient Manuscripts to Life: How Textual Criticism helps Exegesis" in Divinity Hall South, room 001, from 10-11 a.m. 

Warren received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi College, and his Master of Divinity, Doctor of Theology and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has had teaching experience around the world from the United States to Columbia, Venezuela and Cuba. Warren specializes in textual criticism, history of the Bible, social settings of the New Testament, synoptic gospels and Greek grammar and syntax. 

Warren previously spoke for a Samford commencement in May 2016.
