Samford University mourns the loss of former trustee James “Jim” Stivender who passed away on Monday, Oct. 4. He was a graduate of Howard College and later served on Samford’s Board of Trustees from 1958 until he was named an honorary trustee in 2019. He was named chairman of the board in 2003.
He was a walking example of Samford’s values and touched countless lives with his influence. Samford will be eternally impacted by his service.
