Samford University’s Marketing and Communication department received several national awards and accolades for its work during 2021-2022.
The team received two awards from Education Digital Marketing Awards. The Samford Undergraduate Virtual Tour won gold in the Miscellaneous Interactive Media category and the inaugural digital edition of Seasons won bronze in the Digital Publication category.
The team also received five awards for its work in 2021 from the Collegiate Advertising Awards, including three Gold Awards and two Silver Awards. The Gold Awards are awarded to projects that received a score of 95-99 and are in the top 5% of the nation. The Silver Awards are awarded to projects that received a score of 90-94 and are in the top 12% in the nation.
The Collegiate Advertising Awards is an elite, national program recognizing higher education organizations for excellence in communications, marketing, advertising and promotions of their schools. Submissions were reviewed and by a national panel of industry experts, with a possibility of 100 total points. Judging criteria included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality and overall appeal.

Beeson Divinity School won four awards in the Baptist Communicators Association Annual Wilmer C. Fields Awards Competition. The school won first place in the Brochure competition for its masters’ brochure and first place for Beeson magazine in the Magazine Cover competition. It also earned second place for the Feature Single photo for the cover of Beeson magazine. Finally, Beeson magazine placed second in the Print Publication Magazine competition.
Beeson magazine was also recognized by The Religious Communicators Council’s DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards, earning an award of merit in the Magazine Single Awards category. Kristen Padilla, marketing and communication manager for Beeson Divinity School, and Scott Camp, senior graphic designer in Samford’s Division of Advancement and Marketing, were named in the award listing.
