Samford University’s Panhellenic Council has selected Kappa Delta to reestablish its Delta Theta Chapter on campus in fall 2023. Delta Theta was previously active at Samford from 1968 to 1985. Kappa Delta will join six other National Panhellenic Conference sororities on campus: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Phi Mu and Zeta Tau Alpha. 

Kappa Delta will be the first new sorority at Samford since 2015. Currently, 55 percent of Samford’s undergraduate students are members of Greek life organizations. Members contribute to the university through service, leadership, scholarship and personal development.

“We are pleased to welcome Kappa Delta back to Samford to join a thriving Greek life community,” said Vice President of Student Affairs Phil Kimrey. “As undergraduate enrollment continues to increase at our university, so has the number of students interested in participating in the Greek system, so the timing is perfect.”

Kappa Delta Sorority, headquartered in Memphis, Tenn., is a national organization for women with more than 290,000 members, 168 active collegiate chapters and more than 220 active alumnae chapters nationwide. Kappa Delta is active in a number of philanthropic endeavors, including the prevention of child abuse and confidence-building programming with Girl Scouts of the USA.
