Jeremy Thornton, economics professor, recently received this message from 2009 Brock School of Business graduate, Anne Morel:

“I thought I’d give you an update of where I’ll be for the next few years.  I am moving to Haiti tomorrow to work with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) as the business manager there in Port-au-Prince for three years.  I am really excited and know this is where the Lord is leading me.  I’ll be working on monitoring and evaluation of their projects, job creation, business development, and some accounting.  I’ll get to be in the community a good bit working to see how jobs can be created.  It really is such a great opportunity and I am so thankful for it.”

After graduating from Samford majoring in Economics, Anne heeded Dr. Thornton’s encouragement to seek an MBA in International Economic Development at Eastern University.

The world is better because professors like Dr. Thornton invest their time and talents in their students and students like Anne follow their dreams to make a tangible difference in the world.
