The report will reflect our best attempt to account for all of the hours of service that our students offered to the Birmingham community (and far beyond) during the fiscal year that ended last June. I received an advance copy of the report on Friday afternoon—and I am certain that we’ll soon be putting together a press release with the complete information—but the headline is so stunning that I couldn’t wait for the press release to share the news. Here it is. Last year our students offered 583,198 hours of service, at places nearby and across the globe. In fact, I’m assured that this is a conservative estimate. Using a standard multiplier employed to assign value to time that is volunteered, the cumulative value of this contribution is in excess of $13 million.

The world is better because of the focused energy of Samford students.
