Erika Cretton-Scott was drawn to Samford University because of its focus in and dedication to teaching. Prior to joining the faculty at McWhorter School of Pharmacy, she worked for Idenix Pharmaceuticals, a small biotech company in Cambridge, Massachusetts that focused on drug development in the area of antivirals, specifically for HIV, HBV and HCV treatment. In her current role at McWhorter School of Pharmacy, Cretton-Scott teaches pharmacology and sterile compounding; she especially enjoys training students in sterile compounding as it provides great opportunities to interact one-on-one and build relationships with students.
In her spare time, Cretton-Scott enjoys reading and long walks with her husband. One of her favorite quotes is by Albert Einstein, "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new."
