As the outreach coordinator of International Society and the president of Spanish Honor Society in her high school, Sierra found her niche in helping others understand diverse cultures. Additionally, after helping establish a home in Chennai, India for girls who were at-risk of being trafficked, she knew that she wanted to serve now and in the future. On Samford’s campus, Sierra has been able to teach her peers about diversity through the Multicultural Affairs Committee, an ad-hoc SGA committee designed to increase peer-to-peer education about cultural competency. Last year, her service placement was at Birmingham Education Foundation and she looks forward to working with them throughout the year on various projects to help students in Birmingham City Schools. This year, Sierra is excited to compete on the Ethics Bowl Team, work as a tutor in the Communications Resource Center, serve as a member of the Samford Recruitment Team, and lead as the Vice President of Communications for Samford's chapter of International Justice Mission. Throughout her time in Micah Fellows, Sierra has enjoyed serving the local Birmingham area and is excited to learn about justice, mercy, and humility within the program and throughout her time serving.
