Over the summer, Jillian was chosen to represent Samford and the state of Alabama nationally at the AAUW's National Conference for Women Student Leaders in Washington, DC. This year, Jillian serves their Samford community as the President of Samford University College Democrats, Vice President and Co-Associate Member Educator of Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority, Inc., a preceptor for "The Virtues," an intern with Christenberry Planetarium, and a writing consultant at the Communication Resource Centre. Jillian is also a Howard Scholar for the 2018-2019 year, has been published in "The Samford Crimson" and "Wide Angle," is on the AAUW's ALA-WSL 2019 Conference Planning Committee, and is a Campus Campaign Coordinator with Teach for America. After graduation, Jillian hopes to be a corps member for two years with Teach for America to participate in ending systemic educational inequity, pursue at least one Masters Degree and a PhD, and eventually end up in academia.
