Major: Chemistry and Classics
Hometown: Murfreesboro, TennesseeJewel is studying Chemistry and Classics and will pursue a career in an archaeology-related field. While attending Samford, Jewel has participated in the Shikhin Excavation Project's field school, has conducted research in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department on archaeological samples, and has received multiple grants and research fellowships. After graduation, Jewel intends to receive a masters in Conservation of Historical Artifacts or Museum Studies. While in Birmingham, Jewel has striven to become involved on campus and in the community. Jewel is currently a volunteer with the McWane Science Center's collections manager and consulting archaeologist, as well as the Preschool and Children's Intern at her church. On Samford's campus, her involvement includes: co-president of Student Members of the American Chemical Society; a director of her StepSing group; a Howard College of Arts and Sciences Ambassador; and previously a Howard Scholar and section leader in the Marching Bulldogs Athletic Band.
