In high school, Jewel was Beta Club president, drum major, president of the International Thespian Society, a Renaissance member, and volunteered at her church as secretary. Since coming to Samford, Jewel has striven to become involved in many different areas of campus life, including: section leader in the Marching Bulldogs Athletic Bands, co-president of Student Members of the American Chemical Society, a committee member of her StepSing group, and has recently been named a Howard Scholar and Howard Ambassador. At Samford, Jewel is studying Chemistry and Classics to seek work in an archaeological field. After graduation, Jewel intends to get her PhD in archaeometry, specialize in the Ancient Near East, and work internationally.
