An Internship Focused on Developing Nutrition Leaders
Samford University’s dietetic internship will not only make you eligible to take the national registered dietitian exam, but it will also equip you with the knowledge and experience to care for the complex nutritional needs of individuals, families and entire communities.

Prepare to Be a Leader

Earn a Master’s Degree

Dietetic interns choose to complete a Master of Science in Nutrition or Master of Public Health along with the dietetic internship certificate program. Online coursework leading to these degrees is taken in conjunction with the dietetic internship. The 25 credit hours earned during the dietetic internship will be applied towards the degrees. The M.S. and M.P.H. degrees are completed in the same four semesters.

Choose the Distance Option

While many interns complete rotations in Birmingham, Alabama, you can apply for our distance learning option, enabling you to find rotations in your city or state.

Integrate Your Faith

As a Christian university, you will have opportunities to integrate your faith into your practice, learning to care for the whole person, including mental and spiritual needs.

Be Mentored by Peers and Faculty

Each year, 20 interns are accepted into Samford’s program. By keeping our class small, you have the opportunity to develop bonds with your peers and be mentored by faculty.
