Longtime TLC employee Lisa McNeal has accepted a position at Appalachian State University. Congratulations, and best wishes!

We have updated Blackboard to the latest available software version (CE8). Users should notice few outward changes, but there have been numerous improvements in stability.

About Us

Location & Hours

 

The TLC is located on the lower level of the University Library in Room 014, immediately adjacent to the main computer lab. It is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Samford faculty and staff are welcome to use the facilities any time we are open, but if you think you will need assistance, we recommend that you make an appointment so that we can schedule someone to work with you.

Lisa is the director of the Learning Applications Group at Samford. After a stint at the User Services help desk, Lisa joined the TLC in 1999. She holds a B.A. degree in Journalism from Samford University and an M.S. in Instructional Systems from Florida State University. Lisa’s research interests include synchronous communication tools and motivational instructional design models. She is a member of the American Society for Training and Development.

 

Lisa is an adult-onset athlete, and enjoys running in her spare time. She also enjoys decorating and remodeling her Craftsman-style home, which was built in 1929.

In 2004, Joe joined the TLC as an Academic Technology Specialist, after having supported the Academic Computing Labs for over a year. Prior to that, he worked in the arts for fifteen years. He has a B.A. degree in Theatre from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, and several IT certifications. During his free time, Joe's right brain continues to enjoy live musical theatre, where he sometimes spends his evenings as a sound designer, while his left brain enjoys IT consulting and his obsessive-compulsive genealogy hobby.

 

Student Workers

 

We could not provide the services we do without our student workers. Each semester, we hire several students to assist faculty in the TLC and set up equipment in various locations around the campus. Please check the employment page if you are a student interested in working with us.
