Samford Sports

Samford University fields 17 varsity sports—eight men’s and nine women’s teams—that participate at the NCAA Division I level in the Southern Conference. The Samford Bulldogs football team competes in NCAA Division I FCS, consistently ranking among the top in the Southern Conference. The basketball teams have a strong presence at the Pete Hanna Center, with the women's team securing multiple conference championships. Our volleyball, baseball, tennis, and track and field teams contribute to Birmingham's athletic reputation.

If you’re looking to stretch your legs, walk straight across Lakeshore Drive from Samford and you’ll reach Lakeshore Walking trail, or drive just a bit east down Lakeshore and you’ll hit Jemison Trail, a beautifully shaded walking trail.
