Samford University fields 17 varsity sports—eight men’s and nine women’s teams—that participate at the NCAA Division I level in the Southern Conference. The Samford Bulldogs football team competes in NCAA Division I FCS, consistently ranking among the top in the Southern Conference. The basketball teams have a strong presence at the Pete Hanna Center, with the women's team securing multiple conference championships. Our volleyball, baseball, tennis, and track and field teams contribute to Birmingham's athletic reputation.
