Robin Andrews is an assistant professor of legal research and writing. She joined the Cumberland School of Law faculty in 2016 and teaches first-year law students in Cumberland’s Lawyering and Legal Reasoning (LLR) program.

An Alabama native, Andrews earned two degrees in the field of education from Jacksonville State University and enjoyed an early career as a high school English teacher before attending law school.

She received her Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law in 1991, graduating summa cum laude. Andrews served as an associate editor of the Cumberland Law Review and was selected by her peers as Most Outstanding Senior Member. She also served as a Cordell Hull Teaching Fellow in the Legal Research and Writing program. After graduation, Andrews was inducted into Cumberland’s Curia Honoris in recognition of superior academic achievement.

In her 25 years of law practice, Andrews gained broad experience representing and advising a variety of business and governmental clients. An early career emphasis on employment law gradually expanded to encompass the specialized field of public education law. Andrews has represented state and local education entities throughout Alabama, including time as in-house counsel for a public school system. As a school board attorney, she was a regular presenter for the Alabama Association of School Boards, the Alabama Council of School Board Attorneys, and other education associations, as well as a periodic contributor to the Alabama School Boards publication.
