From the Dean
The new Academy of the Arts draws together the best of existing preparatory and continuing education programs in art, photography and music and adds exciting new opportunities in culinary arts, expanded areas of music and community programs for all ages. Dean Joe Hopkins
Special thanks to our staff and leadership team in guiding this transition and preparing for such a significant advancement in these programs. We are grateful to parents, community students and friends for your financial support, which has made it possible for us to create a stunning new piano lab, purchase needed equipment, buy new instruments and shape meaningful scholarships. Indeed, because of these investments, Samford will be able to touch many more from our community with a quality arts experience.
I hope you will take a moment to explore the course offerings, workshops and previews available on our website. Perhaps you will even consider completing a certificate. Bring a friend and come help us celebrate this wonderful new center for learning as we prepare today's artist to shape tomorrow’s world.
Blessings,
Joe Hopkins
From the Director
Welcome to the Academy of the Arts! We are located on South Lakeshore Drive across from the main campus.
Our incredibly talented instructors share their love of art and music throughout the Academy of the Arts. Course offerings will bring enjoyment and advancement for students of all ages who are beginning or continuing their studies. Executive Director, Connie Macon
What an opportunity we have for experiencing the arts at Samford University. Our hope is you will join us for an evening photography class, a morning Kindermusik class, an afternoon violin lesson or even one of our children’s art classes. As director of preparatory music for more than 25 years, I have seen the positive impact a teacher can make in the lives of music students. Students in our summer music camps schedule their summers around these so they can renew friendships and continue their pursuit of music skills. Our music students have the opportunity to perform on campus in the state-of-the-art Jane Hollock Brock Recital Hall.
We join our art colleagues in providing opportunities in a wide variety of courses, workshops and camps. We would love for you to join our arts family at Samford University!
