On Thursday night, October 22, Samford University recognized donors for their financial support of the University. Randy Pittman, left, Vice President for University Advancement, presented Greg Powell with the A.P. Montague award in recognition of those who have purchased Samford affinity car tags through the Alabama Department of Revenue. Since the creation of this program in 1988, thousands of Samford alumni, parents and friends have purchased tags. $48.50 from each tag goes to support the Samford General Scholarship Fund. Mr. Powell, President of fi-Plan Partners in Hoover, a 1981 graduate and former SGA President, is President of the Samford Alumni Association. Mr. Powell is also an individual donor to programs across the University.

So far, the car tag program has contributed more than $500,000 toward scholarships for Samford students. You can help us reach one million dollars in scholarship funding for this program by purchasing a Samford University affinity tag when you next renew your car tag at locations all across Alabama. We are also exploring how Samford can make affinity tags available in other states!
Thank you to all of those who support Samford! If you have a Samford affinity tag, please make us aware sualumni@Samford.edu
