Forty-five students ranging in age from kindergarten through grade six will bring to life popular children's stories next week at Samford University’s Once Upon a Time Summer Theatre Camp
The students will spend 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each day June 24-28 learning lines for a play, practicing onstage, painting a scenic backdrop, gathering costumes and creating makeup designs. They also will attend special classes in art, music, creative movement led by Samford students, alumni and faculty. The week will culminate in a Friday performance in Samford’s Harrison Theatre.
The June camp is filled, but it will be repeated Aug. 5-9.
Samford will offer its Theatre Arts Intensive Summer Camp
for rising grades 7-12 July 22-Aug. 2. Students in that 9 a.m.-4 p.m. camp will delve deeper into the dramatic arts, working on a variety of theatre arts, including monologues, acting styles, audition skills, makeup and scenic and costume design. They will produce age appropriate plays for performance on the last day of camp. That camp also offers a musical theatre track, placed by audition on the first day of the camp.
