Momentum, our annual dance concert, will grace the Harrison stage April 4, 5, and 6 at 7:30 pm and April 7 at 2:30 pm. This year features two senior projects - The Seven Deadly Sins, choreographed by Adrienne Giordano, and Commission, choreographed by Lauren Taunton. Both projects portray themes of the struggles we face and show that through faith in Jesus we can overcome obstacles in our lives. Other dances are choreographed by students as part of their final project for DANC 401, Choreography. These pieces present styles of dance ranging from swing to ballet to contemporary. Dansynthesis
The School of the Arts has developed a program for dancers who want more than just class every week. This faculty-led group provides performance opportunities for dance minors and other qualified students. Dansynthesis meets twice weekly to learn repertory and new choreography for presentation in the annual spring concert and other venues. This exciting new project began in the fall of 2009. Since then, Dansynthesis has performed in the Alabama Dance Showcase at the Alabama Dance Festival, competed at Panoply of the Arts, performed in Samford Operaworks productions and at Step Sing Saturday evening during the judges deliberations.
