VISITING VISUAL ARTIST SERIES:  THE ART OF BETHANNE HILL AND DARIUS HILL     


Bethanne Hill is a full-time artist whose work has appeared on the covers of numerous magazines, books and CD’s.  Her art has been shown in many galleries throughout the southeast.  All of her paintings are done in acrylic on wood, paper, or canvas.  Darius Hill is the chair of the Visual Arts Department at the Alabama School of Fine Arts.  He is an exhibiting artist participating in shows throughout the southeast.  He is a mixed media artist whose artworks have a rich, complex surface.

VISUAL ARTS ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM JURIED EXHIBITION  


The Samford Art Department will again be hosting a middle and high school student art exhibition and scholarship competition for District VI-A sponsored by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and coordinated by Dr. Mary Ann Culotta.

April 7-30
SAMFORD ART STUDENT ANNUAL JURIED SHOW 
 
Art students will submit their matted and display-ready art for juror selection on March 31 and April1.  All students that have taken art courses in the art department within the last year are eligible to submit their art.  Artwork not selected by the juror will be returned to the students April 2.

May 7 
GRAPHIC DESIGN PROFESSIONAL REVIEW 


Graduating seniors with a concentration in graphic design present their senior project to a panel of regional professional graphic designers. This review process is open for observation and will begin at 5:30 PM
 


May 12-17 
GRADUATING SENIOR ART EXHIBITION

 
Graduating seniors will present their senior projects for professor and professional review and for the community to see.

June 16-20 
UNIVERSITY PHOTOGRAPHERS’ ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA’S 53RDANNUAL TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM PRINT COMPETITION 

 
Samford is hosting the annual University Photographers’ Association of America’s Symposium and in conjunction with that the Art Gallery will display this competitive exhibition of outstanding photography.  Caroline Summers, Director of Photographic Services at Samford University, will be the curator of this exhibit.
