Dr. Newton has served as the associate dean of the Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education since 2010. Previous to her position as associate dean, Dr. Newton served as interim chair of the teacher education department. She has taught as an assistant professor in the Educational Leadership department since 2008. Before coming to Samford, Dr. Newton served as the superintendent of Homewood City Schools for over 10 years and as assistant superintendent of Fairfield City Schools in Birmingham, Ala. prior to that.
