At the invitation of Ms. Suzanne Mubarak, former First Lady of Egypt, Mann Center Director John Knapp was a keynote speaker, panelist and participant in the work of Egypt’s National Council for Women. See photos.


The Oxford Conclave on Global Higher Education, directed by Dr. John Knapp, is a retreat for U. S. university presidents held at the University of Oxford, which has involved presidents of more than 60 universities since 2005. See photos.

The Oxford Tradition is a unique experience for Samford students that allows them to explore the rich legacy of leadership in higher education at the University of Oxford. See photos.


Dr. John Knapp was the keynote speaker and a seminar leader for the 2011 conference, “Challenges in Education and Today’s Classroom,” held in Beirut and sponsored by the Lebanese Society for Education and Development. See photos.

North Korea 

Dr. John Knapp was on the leadership team of a delegation of scholars who visited Pyongyang University of Science and Technology in North Korea in 2011. The project was coordinated by the Consortium for Global Education. See photos.

South Africa 

The Mann Center is partnering with Stellenbosch University and its newly established Frederick Van Zyl Slabbert Leadership Center to create programs on both continents in Leadership for Social Change. The Center also works extensively with Living Way microenterprise center in Cape Town, overseeing annual summer service practica that promote economic empowerment. See photos.


The Mann Center was co-sponsor of Caux Round Table’s 2010 Scholars’ Retreat, “After the Global Economic Crisis: Abrahamic Social Thought and Redeeming the Stewardship of Creation." The center also participated in the 2012 Global Dialogue, "Cross-sector Leadership to Realize a Truly Sustainable Market Economy for Europe and the World." See photos.
