Bulldog Days Orientation
Congratulations, and welcome to the Samford family! Bulldog Days is Samford’s new student orientation program for students and parents. Participation in Bulldog Days is required for all entering students, and parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Students will stay the first night in a residence hall during orientation. For parents, we will soon have blocks of rooms reserved at our host hotels, Hampton Inn Mountain Brook and Courtyard Marriott Lakeshore.
Students who have submitted their $250 enrollment/housing deposit can register for Bulldog Days on their Application Status Page.
*Residential students attending August Bulldog Days will move into their assigned Fall Semester residence hall on Wednesday, August 24 from 2-4 p.m.
Summer Bulldog Days Registration opens on March 15.

The Office of Orientation takes a student-centered approach to the transition experience while introducing incoming families to all aspects of Samford University. By fostering relationships, we connect families to the Samford community and encourage students to pursue opportunities for personal, academic, and spiritual growth.

As you review the orientation schedule, please notice that Bulldog Days is walking intensive. If you would like to request any special accommodations for you or a family member, please contact us at email@example.com.
Also on the schedule, you will see time set aside for a language placement exam, which is used to determine students’ entry level into language courses at Samford—no need to study in advance. However, if you need to request special accommodations to take this exam, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students should have received a username and password from Technology Services when they were admitted to Samford. Students will need this information to register for classes during orientation. If you did not receive or have misplaced your username and password, contact Technology Services at 205-726-2662.
Students should go to portal.samford.edu and log in with your username and password. From there, click the Bulldog Mail icon in the upper right corner of the screen to log in to Bulldog Mail.
Major Change Form
At orientation, each students’ academic advisor will be assigned based on their major. Students who would like to change their major before they arrive for orientation should log in to their application status page and submit the Change of Major form.
Students will stay in a residence hall the first night of orientation, so we recommend bringing the following items:
- Sheets/Blanket or sleeping bag
- Alarm clock
- Bathroom shoes
- Light sweater or a jacket
Students must submit their health form by the first day of class or date of move-in on campus (whichever occurs first). Students should log in to their application status page to access and submit these forms. Students can also submit these forms at orientation check-in.
All students living in on-campus housing are required to complete a housing contract. To submit your contract, log in to Portal using your Samford username and password. Then, look under the Quick Links list on the left and select Student Housing—2016 New Student Housing Contract.
