About 140 international educators from 40 universities including 10 from other nations will convene for the 26th annual meeting of the Consortium for Global Education (CGE) Wednesday through Friday, Sept. 18-20, at Samford University.

"Exploring and Engaging Globally: International Education, Service, and Sharing" is the theme of the three-day gathering.  CGE member schools are committed to quality education and international study for students and faculty, and the meeting is designed to help them strengthen their international programs.

The program will feature plenary and workshop sessions on a variety of educational experiences by member institutions.

Plenary sessions Thursday will include reports on "Lessons Learnt Along the Journey" by Vice Chancellor Gerald Pillay of Liverpool Hope University, U.K.,  Lebanon's efforts for students with learning difficulties by Lebanese Society for Education and Social Development President Nabil Costa, Myanmar's celebration of 200 years of Christian education by Myanmar Institute of Theology President Samuel Ling, and campus reports exploring future plans by nine schools.

A third plenary session Friday will explore new agreements for international education signed by Russian and Greek institutions, additional reports on exploring the future and a president's perspective.

Samford President Andrew Westmoreland will welcome delegates at a reception Wednesday in Samford's Beeson Center for the Healing Arts.  Dr. David Whitlock, president of Oklahoma Baptist University, is CGE chair, and Dr. Carolyn Bishop is CGE president.
