Our Story

From Dr. Charlie Sands, Dean of the McWhorter School of Pharmacy:

“Our own Dr. John Arnold recently received word that this manuscript, ‘The Effect of Rho-Associated Kinase (ROCK) Inhibition on the Ocular Penetration of Timolol Maleate’ has been accepted in Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science (IOVS).  IOVS is a top-level journal read by many ophthalmologists and eye researchers.  This paper was about four years in the making.  What is particularly impressive about this article is that John collaborated with Dr. Gorman in the PSRI, Dr. Hunsinger in Samford’s Biology department, several researchers in the Duke University Department of Ophthalmology in the School of Medicine, and a researcher in the UAB Department of Neurobiology in the School of Medicine.  Importantly, MSOP students Chris Chapleau and Simone Spellen contributed significantly to the project.  Simone was supported by one of our MSOP summer research internships.  This is a great example of collaboration within and outside of Samford University, as well as how our summer research internship program has allowed us to move forward in our scholarship.”

The world is better because Samford faculty members serve as models of cooperation.
