he Master’s of Accountancy (MAcc) program at Samford University is designed to teach students comprehensive accounting knowledge as well as to prepare students for the Uniform CPA Exam. Upon completion of the program, students will meet the State of Alabama's education requirements to sit for the CPA exam. Students may choose to take the CPA exam in a state other than Alabama, but it is the student’s responsibility to determine the education requirements to sit for the CPA exam in states other than Alabama if that choice is made.
To begin the MAcc program at the Brock School of Business, students must meet all requirements as outlined on the Pre-MAcc program page. These courses do not count towards the MAcc degree requirements but are the necessary prerequisites for the MAcc program. Students who have not taken each of these courses in their undergraduate work may still be admitted to our program to complete the necessary courses at Samford University.
The MAcc degree requires a minimum of 30 credits of approved graduate coursework, including 24 graduate accounting credits. Of the 30 credits, 24 must be taken in courses reserved exclusively for graduate students. Students must have a 3.00 or higher cumulative graduate GPA at the Brock School of Business to graduate. For course descriptions, please see the 2013-2014 BSOB Handbook or the Brock School of Business portion of the Samford University Catalog.
