Services for students with disabilities

Samford University is committed to serving college students with disabilities. In conjunction with the University's mission Disability Resources strives for an inclusive educational environment, promotes best practices, and endorses both physical and programmatic access for students to all events and information in the Samford University community.  Various departments across the campus provide a broad diversity of services designed to meet the needs of college students with disabilities.

  • Students with disabilities should remember that registration with Disability Resources is separate from gaining admission to Samford University.
  • If you are applying to Samford University and you have a disability, DR reminds you that you are not required to submit disability documentation to the admission office. Admissions decisions are made without regard to disability status. Should you have any questions, please contact DR.

Disability Resources

Disability Resources (DR) is the central contact point for students with disabilities. Services for students with disabilities focus upon providing individualized accommodations while promoting student responsibility and self-advocacy. DR views the provision of reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities as a collaborative effort, requiring the cooperation of faculty, staff, and students.

Students who choose not to self-identify when they enter Samford University do not forfeit their right to identify themselves and to receive accommodations at a later date. However, Samford University is not obligated to provide accommodations or services for students with disabilities until students are registered with DR, and make known their need for accommodations each academic term.

Disability Resources is located in the University Center, Room 205. The phone number is 205-726-2980 or 205-726-4078. The fax number is 205-726-2842. E-mail address: DR is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm, except for Samford University holidays.

Accessible parking areas are available to students who are certified for disability parking by display of their state issue hang-tag or tag. Contact Transportation Services at 205-726-2762 for further information.
