Franklin, an Eagle Scout, graduated tenth in his class and was recognized as a future teacher and community leader by McDonald's , the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Fayette County Retired Teacher Association, and the Fayette County Board of Education. In high school, he was involved with the French Club and French Honor Society, in which he served as President during his senior year. He was also a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and a four year member of the Academic Team, serving as Varsity Captain his senior year. In addition, Franklin attended the Georgia Governor's Honors Program as a Social Studies major and Education minor. Also involved in music, Franklin was a three-year participant in the auditioned Select Chorus, attended District 6 Honor Choruses, and was a part of the Georgia Allstate Chorus for two years. He has also taught in children's' and music and arts ministries at his church.
