A National Merit Commended Scholar, Selina has
continued her practice of academic achievement while at Samford. She has made
the Dean’s List every semester and is an officer for Beta Alpha Psi, the
accounting honor society. Selina is also the captain of Samford’s volleyball
team, though she has been a member of the team since her freshman year, when
the team secured the 2011 SoCon regular season and tournament championships.
She serves on the executive council of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
and has been named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll each year. Around campus and
Birmingham, Selina teams up with these organizations to engage in various
community service projects, including canned food drives, fundraisers for the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and work with physically disabled children at
the Lakeshore Foundation. This summer, Selina worked as a finance intern for
the Children’s Defense Fund in Washington, D.C., an organization specializing
in child advocacy, particularly for children from poor and working families.
