Samford to Host Summer Institute for Teachers

Samford University’s Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education and Professional Studies will host its Samford Summer Institute for Teaching Excellence (SSITE) July 18-21.

The program is open to teachers, counselors and administrators in k-12 schools. Each participant will receive 24 hours of professional development credit or 2.4 CEU credits. Registration deadline is July 12.

Specialists in various fields will speak on current education issues and future trends.

Speakers include learning and human development specialist Thomas Armstrong, whose books include Multiple Intelligences in the Classroom; Mimi Brodsky Chenfeld, author of Teaching in the Key of Life and Creative Experiences for Young Children; child behavior specialist Ennio Cipani, author of Classroom Management for All Teachers: 12 Plans for Evidence Based Practice; Alison Hagee, elementary education specialist; Todd Parker, dean of students, John Carroll High School, Birmingham; children’s literature, and literacy research specialist Frank Serafini, author of The Reading Workshop: Creating Space for Readers; and humorist/motivation specialist Jim Winter, founder and president of WAVELENGTH improvisation ensemble.

The $150 registration fee includes workshop materials, reception, three breakfasts, two lunches, snacks, tee shirt and carryall bag.
