"Bringing the Word to Light" is the theme of the 12th annual Samford Pastors School, meeting July 26-30 at Samford University.

Sponsored by Samford's Beeson Divinity School, the four-day conference features workshops, plenary sessions, Bible studies, and fellowship times--all designed to renew and equip pastors and their families.

Some 300 registrants are expected to attend. Participants represent 20 states and Canada, and 14 denominations.

Warren Wiersbe, Bible teacher, speaker, pastor and author, will serve as plenary Bible teacher, leading Bible study each morning, Tuesday through Friday. His many books include Walking with the Giants and The Bumps are What You Climb On.

Featured speakers throughout the week include John Piper, senior pastor, Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis, Minn.; Walter Malone, founder and pastor, Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky.; Robert Norris, senior pastor, Fourth Presbyterian Church, Bethesda, Md.; and Raymond Culpepper, senior pastor, Metropolitan Church of God, Birmingham.

Workshop topics and speakers include "Preaching to the Postmodern Mind," Calvin Miller; "Millennial Madness," William Hull; "Beyond Black and White: Preaching Crossculturally," Robert Smith, Jr.; "Weapons for Winning the Worship War," Gary Hallquist; and "Christians and Depression: Practical Help from a Medical Perspective," Samuel Thielman.

A series of workshops for women will feature Christian humorist and author Barbara Joiner at a Wednesday luncheon. Her five books on spiritual gifts and joy include Yours for the Giving: Spiritual Gifts.
