There are a few important things to remember as you prepare for Bulldog Days.

Register for Orientation

Before you register, make sure you have the following information ready to login to the Samford Portal:
1. Samford username*
2. Password*
3. Credit Card (Samford accepts Mastercard and Visa via online registration)

*Your Samford username and password were mailed to you shortly after you received your admission letter. If you have misplaced this information, please contact Samford Technology Services at 205-726-2662.

Once you login to the portal, click on the 'Orientation' link located at the top of "Quick Links" tab.  Once you select "Orientation" from the portal, go ahead and complete the registration form and then submit payment. You will receive a confirmation email shortly after regsitering. Once you have deposited, it takes 48 hours for the 'Orientation' link to appear in your portal.

Note: We are so glad that  you have chosen Samford and we can't wait to see you at Bulldog Days. Once payment is submitted, we will not offer an orientation fee refund should your decision change.

Registration Deadlines

After you have paid your deposit for admission, a postcard will be mailed to you with information about online registration. Be sure to register at least one week prior to the Orientation session you wish to attend, the sooner the better. The Orientation sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and each session has a maximum number of students allowed. You will receive confirmation of the session you will attend by email. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Orientation at 205-726-4230 or orientation@samford.edu.  

Expenses

 The cost for attending Transfer Orientation is $35. This includes payment for the student’s orientation materials, as well as one meal (lunch) on campus for the student and his/her parents. Orientation registration takes place online and payment must be made with a MasterCard, Visa or Discover.

Arrival and departure

 Check- in for Transfer Orientation is between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. on Friday, January 25 in the lobby of the University Center (in front of the Bookstore). Orientation will conclude by approximately 3:00 p.m on January 25. Orientation staff will be at check-in locations to greet and assist you. Once you arrive on campus, follow the directional signs to the registration locations.

Samford ID

While at Orientation, transfer students will have the opportunity to have their student ID made. This process takes place in the Department of Pulic Safety, located in the University Center across from the Hub.

Lodging for Parents

If you are traveling from out of town to join us for Orientation, we invite you to stay at one of our host hotels. View the host hotel tab for additional information.

Meals

Lunch will be provided for students and parents during transfer orientation.

University Health Services

 Samford University requires all fulltime, degree-seeking students to submit an Immunization Record.  The completed form is due prior to registration and is considered delinquent if not received in its entirety within two weeks of the first day of class.  The record must be signed by a health-care provider or include a health department stamp.  Failure to submit this documentation within two weeks of the first day of class will result in a $150 (non-refundable) fine and a registration hold on your record.   

 In addition to the Immunization Record, all students living in university housing are required to submit the Health Form.  The necessary physical examination must be within 12 months of submission and will be accepted only on the Health Form provided.  These documents should be submitted to University Health Services prior to registration and are considered delinquent if not received in their entirety within two weeks of the first day of class.  Failure to meet this deadline will result in a registration hold on the student’s record, a $150 non-refundable fine and possible removal from the residence hall.   Please note that if you are a student-athlete, your athletics physical will not be accepted in lieu of this documentation.

Before Orientation

• Check the Orientation Schedule to familiarize yourself with what you will be doing while you are here. Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. Orientation leaders will assist you when you arrive on campus.
• Have your physician complete and sign the Health Form for Residential Students (includes the Health Form and the Immunization Record) or the Immunization Record for commuter students.  These forms are due to the University Health Office by orientation and are considered delinquent if not received in its entirety within two weeks of the first day of class.
• You were mailed an e-mail address user name and password from Technology Services after your admission to Samford. If you don't know your user name, you can call Technology Services User Support at 205-726-2662. You will need to have your user name and password to register during Orientation.

During Orientation

• Maps and Directions to Samford. Once you get to Samford's campus, enter the main gate from Lakeshore Drive and check in by following the orientation check-in signs to the check-in locations.
• Go to Public Safety & Emergency Management in the University Center, 2nd floor, to have your student ID made sometime during your orientation.
• Turn in your health form and immunization form when checking in if you haven't already mailed it to University Health Services.
• Register for classes.
• Move-In (if you are planning to live on campus).

After Orientation

• All tuition billing will be sent from the Bursar to your Samford email address. Now is a good time to add your parents as an Authorized User.
• Get ready to begin classes and enjoy your Samford experience! Go Bulldogs!
