Dean Ruth Ash of the Samford University School of Education and Professional Studies has been named to the nine-member Judges Panel for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
Dean Ash will serve a three-year term beginning March 1.
Congress established the Baldrige Award in 1987 to recognize U.S. organizations for their achievements in quality and business performance.
Judges are appointed by the Secretary of Commerce from among the 350 members of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Board of Examiners. The Board consists of leading U.S. business, health care and education experts.
Baldrige Awards are made annually in manufacturing, service and small business categories.
Dean Ash has led the Samford education school since 1992. The school was named in December as one of the first four winners of the U.S. Department of Education's National Award for Effective Teacher Preparation.
