Institutional Standards

Candidates of the teacher education and graduate studies programs will: Conceptual Framework

  • demonstrate acquisition of the knowledge required in the profession (e.g., subjects taught, leadership skills, technology choice and application)
  • demonstrate they know how to impart the knowledge and skills they possess to students and teachers (e.g., they know how to teach their subjects to students, know how to lead and work with educators)
  • demonstrate systematic thinking, reflective decision making and stay data-informed in their educational practice
  • demonstrate dispositions conducive to student learning and collaboration in the school community
  • demonstrate responsiveness to a school community of diverse learners (e.g., various cultures and learning abilities)
  • demonstrate willingness to engage in professional growth (in knowledge, skills, pedagogy and professional dispositions) through self-examination, professional coaching and existing research
  • demonstrate appropriate assessment of students; high expectations of students; ability to re-teach and a commitment to learning of ALL students
  • demonstrate enhanced quantitative, informational, oral and written literacy
