What do you think is the best thing about Cumberland School of Law?

The best thing about Cumberland is the multitude of resources and opportunities offered for students to build a solid foundation in law. In addition, Cumberland is a community that expands far beyond law school.

Why did you choose Cumberland School of Law?

I chose Cumberland because of the impressionable impact of the admission office. I met with Ms. Dachelet at a law school fair and ran across her again at another event, where she remembered me by name. In that moment, I knew that at Cumberland I would be more than just a number.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?

Coming from a small hometown, I enjoy the endless opportunities Birmingham has to offer. Birmingham has an expansive legal industry that supports Cumberland’s students. In my leisure, I enjoy experiencing different food and social venues.

Student Organizations/Extracurricular Activities

Black Law Student Association (BLSA), treasurer; 2L Honor Court justice; Admission Ambassador; Air National Guard

If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?

I would advise my pre-law school self to branch out of my comfort zone and be more confident in trying new opportunities. You will never know which opportunity suits you until you try it. I would advise myself to make more connections and expand my network. Lastly, I would advise myself to count my small victories. Instead of focusing so much on what I have not done, take time to reflect on what I have done and how far I have already come. It’s a marathon and not a sprint!

What do you plan to do after graduation?

My plan is to become an Air Force Judge Advocate General (JAG) and eventually open a private firm in civil and criminal defense.
